This December 3 is Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday is a day of international charitable giving. As a non-profit organization, we anticipate each year that this day will bring an influx of donations. While deciding on an end-of-the-year fundraiser we wanted to not only highlight us, and all of our accomplishments, we wanted to highlight other women who deserve praise and acknowledgment.

That’s how our new annual campaign was born — HERSTORY: Celebrate Her Past, Invest In Her Future. We are so proud of this campaign and what it represents. It represents the accomplishments of strong women. It represents women creating social change. It represents celebrating each victory big or small. But most importantly, it represents our commitment to investing in the growth of young women impact leaders.

We want to celebrate women who are out there changing history by making herstory. Over the years we have had the pleasure of connecting with hundreds of women across the world who come from all different backgrounds, experiences, triumphs, and tragedies. These stories have touched our hearts in ways we cannot begin to describe. Our fellows inspire us every day. With this campaign, we are asking YOU to share the story of a woman in your life who is transforming the world and through your network invest in her future growth.

The nominations we have received so far are truly inspirational. Here are a few excerpts our champions wrote about the women in their life they nominated to become HERSTORY Fellows:

Jenna Rodriguez — “Jenna is working around the clock to make her community thrive and supporting all of those in her life — from mentoring the high school kid in their first job at the local movie theatre on the importance of customer service as an essential life skill, to the funding she’s raising to enable the nonprofit she works with, Digital NEST, to continue to have greater impact on the youth in Watsonville and other communities like it.” — Corinne Warnshuis

Danielle Goldman — “Supporters would be investing in two social outcomes driven by Open Avenues Foundation’s [Danielle’s Organization] programming: 1. Helping students from diverse backgrounds enter STEM fields and participate in experiential learning programs to prepare them for careers in high-growth industries; and 2. Changing the narrative about immigrants in the U.S. by demonstrating the economic and social value of foreign talent in the U.S. as they lead STEM projects and build new career pathways for U.S. students.” — Chaya Pomeranz-Sherman

Allie Ladio — “Allie is the person who would always ask how she can help. And she means it. She is the Director of Annual Giving and Development Operations at Stevenson School in Monterey, California. She has dedicated 10+ year of her career in educational fundraising because she believes in investing in the ripple effect of education and better young people in our world.” — Nan Liu

Lindsay Griffin — “Lindsay’s perseverance, both professionally and personally, is truly inspiring. She has found courage through her own adversity to advocate for others who have been silenced. She hopes to continue developing her efforts to serve as a spokesperson to expose spiritual, emotional and physical abuse within religious communities and, in 2020, she plans to publish a book she has written detailing the abuse within the authoritarian Evangelical missionary agency she was raised in and her subsequent journey to reevaluate her worldview.” — Skylar Gieseke

Rada Akbar — “To each of you who choose to support Rada’s story, you did not only invest in one of the most truthful women, but you invested in the changing perception of Afghan women. Contrary to global public perception, Afghan women are not victims of their hardship, but they are incredibly strong and resilient, smart and resourceful, and fundamentally inspiring.” — Maira Kuppers

Mariah McKay — “I’ve experienced first-hand Mariah’s endless championship of independent change-makers in Spokane and know what it is to be taken under her wing. Support for her is no less than support for thousands making the world a better place.” — Kathlyn Kinney

If any of these women’s stories speak to you, you can click on their name and it will bring you directly to their designated campaign page. There, you can read more about these women, what organizations they work for, what their goals are, and why their champion believes coaching will bring them to the next level in their careers.
